i heart project life! 2013 weeks 1 thru 3

More of a personal post today, but only because I am officially obsessed with Project Life!  It’s seriously going to change my life and the way I take pictures.

I am SO thrilled I decided to jump on the bandwagon this year. The moments and photos I love love love from our everyday life. Most of my PL inspiration thus far has come from my super-crafty sister Susan. I have been admiring her PL layouts for the past year! lol.

Haven’t heard of Project Life yet? I’m not sure where you’ve been, but that’s okay, you can learn about it here.

So, I’ve opted to go mostly digital for my first ever attempt at Project Life.

Although I will be printing my 12×12 pages for each week’s spread…along with a variety of inserts in various shapes & sizes. I’ll still use the traditional PL binder (in aqua this year!) and page protectors so I can add other memorabilia here and there. I may actually also print my full year’s worth of layouts as an 8×8 bound book at the end. We’ll see. But I really decided to go the digital route for a few main reasons:

#1. I am not a traditional scrapbooker. And probably won’t ever be. I suck at scrapbooking. Tried it once. Sucked at it. Lol. And storing tons of supplies, paper, tools, etc. is But I have NO problem storing oodles of digi paper, digi brushes, digi templates, etc. and working them in Photoshop. Go figure. michael kors d ring dress rose gold

#2. I hate my handwriting. You will most likely never see handwritten notes or journaling in my Project Life binder. And, in the digital world, I get to pick the fonts and brushes I love most. Yay! And Ali Edwards brushes are my fav!

#3. I’m fickle. And like to re-design my layouts WAY too often. Which in the digital world works well because I can swap out a photo on a layout, switch out the text, etc. As many times as I want! Digital Project Life gives me the freedom to change my mind about 100 million times before settling on a final spread and eventually having it printed. However, I am pretty sure there will be some “re-prints” in my future. Just sayin.

Here is my (first ever) Project Life Title Page to kick off 2013…

I’m officially three weeks in (working on week 4 at the moment), and I’m pretty sure I’ve adopted a standard ‘weekly’ 2-page spread for Project Life. Oh and looks like I’ll be rocking mostly Seafoam PL edition bits and pieces. They seem to work really well with our Naples beachy lifestyle.

And here’s what Weeks 1 thru 3 of 2013 looked like for us.

It’s clearly been a revolving door of visitors at our house. But I can’t complain because we’ve squeezed in LOTS of fun stuff over the past few weeks.

Week 1… The Shaidles were in town this week.

Week 2… moncler jacket acorus Our good friends Wally & Lisa came for a fun-filled visit.

Week 3… My sister’s adorable family, including my favorite two nephews were in town!

For Week 3, I deviated a little from only including a 2-page spready by also adding a 6×12 insert of all my favorite orange grove photos. I’ll use the back of the insert to include homemade watercolor heart-shaped tags that my nephews Ev & Noah made me. Since I had so many great photos from a fun week, I also will use a 5×7 insert for a small collage of some of the “extra” moments captured this week! Have I mentioned how much I LOVE project life and the flexibility it offers?!

Here’s the 6×12 Insert… printed as a 12×12 and I will trim it in half (to make a front & back)

And the 5×7 collage style Insert… just for a few “extra” photos that tell the whole story!

I love the designs you have done on PL. I first saw your spreads when I searched #projectlife on instagram. I can’t decide whether to do traditional or digital. So I was curious where you are printing your weekly spreads and how much you’re paying. Thanks for any digital advice you have!

Hi Darcie! Thanks so much! I am LOVING Project Life…so glad I took it on this year. I’m doing a combo digi/traditional myself and will be printing my spreads at Costco most likely. I don’t know the price off the top of my head, but I find Costco to be a pretty reasonable consumer printing lab with good quality prints over some of the other local places. :)) -Kim
